FREEPORT DAHLIAS
I help home gardeners and farmers grow healthy, gorgeous dahlias through workshops, house calls, and online education.
In 2020, I had been growing dahlias for a few years, and decided to try and turn it into a business. The following year, I bought a highly distressed acre of land in and immediately got to work rehabilitating it. That’s how Freeport Dahlias began.
For many years I was a playwright. I studied with the late Tina Howe, and had productions regularly in cities like NY, Chicago, Boston, and LA. In 2018, a brain injury put my writing and my life on hold for several years.
Growing dahlias has been a significant part of my recovery. I’ve regained most of my cognitive abilities, and am writing a book to offer encouragement and meaning for others who’ve been through similarly difficult events.
I named my farm Perseverance Farm, where I sell blooms, tubers, gifts, and more!
